BILITIS also exists as a music-theatre work in which a very different music participates...rhythmic, wild, jazz improvisations push the action forward moving in and out of the melodic lush songs for the character of BILITIS who IN THE MUSIC-THEATRE VERSION, Pierre, the writer, is in crisis because his long love-affair with Bilitis is over as she has left him for a woman named Mnasidika (dancer/actress). Pierre decides to write about the break-up and her new affair so that he can "enter their world" and thus, find out, why Bilitis has left him..Eventually, Mnasidika falls in love with the chorus (young soprano), Pierre gives up the hope of Bilitis returning to him, and Bilitis is left alone.
